BACK FROM THE HOSPITAL

Sally, Zoë and I are back from the hospital. Athena visited quite often...

and seems to be bonding with Zoë. True, she'll occassionaly poke Zoë to see if she'll do something interesting (hey, it works with Dancing Elmo). Athena's main gripe, though, is that she can't hold her sister by herself. At first, Nana was nearby to supervise...

Then we let Athena sit in Daddy's lap while she held Zoë...

But you can tell in this last photo she's getting annoyed will all the parental hovering...

ATHENA GETS A SISTER

Good news everyone, Zoë Judith Ngov-Nordvall was born today (Septemeber 15th) at 1:17PM. Weight 7lbs. 10 oz.

Mom and baby are resting in the hospital. We couldn't be happier.

And here's Athena meeting her new sister. At first, she just stared and stared with this look of incomprehension, then she said "Uh-oh." Later, however, she warmed up and was laughing and waving "Hi" to her new sister.

GETTING READY FOR ZOË

In the days before Zoë's arrival, we prepared. Athena helped clean off some old shelves for Zoë's clothes

And did a little reading on the subject.

Here are Sally and I getting ready to go in the hospital.

And Athena giving a last good luck earlobe squeeze in the hospital waiting room.

ATHENA'S FIRST BIKE

A recent sale at CostCo got Athena her first bike. Apparently, Athena has utter disdain for tricycles, big wheels, etc. and only wants to play with big kids bike. So we bought her a Barbie Bike withe training wheels. So far, all she can do is climb onto the seat and move the handlebars around, as her legs are too short to reach the pedals. I've strong advocated getting something a little more size appropriate so she can actually get out there and pedal, but the bike is worth keeping since Athena never tires of posing on it.
